A village chief in Buguey, Cagayan and his three companions were arrested early Saturday morning for carrying seven high-powered firearms inside a videoke bar in Barangay Macanaya in Aparri, Cagayan.

Police operatives nabbed Rofel Castillo, village head of Barangay Quinawegan in Buguey town, and his aides, Melchor Savalle, who has a warrant of arrest for murder charges; Abraham Viernes and Edison Carpio, all of Buguey ,Cagayan. They were placed under the custody of the Aparri police.

Seized from them were one M-16 Baby Armalite rifle, a Gauge 12 shotgun, a Carbine rifle, a homemade revolver, a caliber .45 revolver, two Colt caliber .45 pistols and assorted ammunition.

Aparri police operatives chanced upon Castillo’s group while scouring the area during an “Operation Bakal.” They earlier got a tip that Castillo and his men were brandishing guns after entering the videoke bar.

Illegal possession of firearms would be filed against them on Monday, June 6, police operatives added.
